NEED SUPPORT?

Is your community seeking financial or other support for adaptation?

Start here.

Community Adaptation

Communities benefit greatly from climate change adaptation planning processes that are tailored to their needs. Take a look at these basic steps, which are reflected in most adaptation planning frameworks:

  • Create a climate adaptation planning team, internal support and partnerships
  • Learn about climate change, including regional climate change scenarios
  • Identify the climate change impacts relevant to your region
  • Assess the vulnerability of your region or community to these impacts and the level of risk each presents
  • Identify, evaluate and prioritize actions to address the risks
  • Integrate these actions into regional or local strategies, plans and processes
  • Adopt and implement the plans
  • Monitor progress and adapt plans as needed.
