Environmentally Sensitive Areas

Communities rely on the healthy functioning of natural ecosystems — land, air and water — and the ways in which these function to support all life. An investment in the health of ecosystems is also an investment in food, fuels, pharmaceuticals, building and manufacturing materials, water management, pollution filtration, drainage and flood control, fish and wildlife, recreation and human well-being.

As climatic changes continue to influence ecosystem functions and biodiversity, adaptive steps become ever more important.

About ReTooling for Climate Change

The ReTooling for Climate Change website is a project of the Fraser Basin Council to support local governments and First Nations in BC in preparing for climate change adaptation. The site is funded through the BC Regional Adaptation Collaborative (BC RAC), a partnership program of the Fraser Basin Council and the BC Ministry of Environment – Climate Action Secretariat, with funding from Natural Resources Canada and other in-kind contributions.
